Guys I am about to final-fit the cab, and I remembered a thread somewhere that called into question the positioning of the aircon sensor and winding, ie I believe the original factory photos showed the sensor as well as the winding on the bottom of the two pipes, but again If I remember correctly there was a discussion that suggested this was wrong for optimum operation of the valve.

The problem is that whatever I do I cannot find that thread as the search facility seems $$£"! even in advanced search mod !

Can anyone help?

the capillary thermostat thing should be on the large bore pipe.

BRILLIANT Guys,

Thank you sooo much!

Since I am on a roll here wink .....On another subject ref the manual valve for the heater water flow, I am aware that some have replaced this with a servo type?

Did that work satisfactorily? What component and switch did you use (and source)?

It's the valve that Vintage Air do, part number is 50507-VUA, only thing is you can't buy direct from VA but have to go through their dealer outlet, Schwartz Performance as in Jeff is an agent, I think.
It comes all wired up all you have to do is locate the switch (small pot) the knob is the same design as the factory knobs, wire into a circuit that's ignition fed and replace the valve. I repositioned my valve to the back of the luggage bin, the small ECU I stuck inside the dash next to the door hinge and still had plenty of wiring.

I have just bypassed my heater looping the hoses back into the engine from the H piece, no problems as yet.

Thanks for the info Graham, however.... I was kinda confused by the comment above and not sure what it is referencing? Why would you bypass your heater? Are there any pics to make your meaning clearer.

The only reason that I'm not using my heater is that I suffer from heat in the cockpit (Can-Am) over 60ish....you can feel the heat wafting up from under the dash...I'm going through a process of elimination at the moment....bypassing the heater was the first...now that I'm still getting heat my next trick will be to try to fill in any gaps, with close cell insulation foam, that have a hot pipe/hose running through it!
I know that I'm not going to eliminate the heat as the sun shines into the cockpit heating eveything up but I want to cut it down as much as possible. One place that does store up the heat is the top of the dash board, I've noticed that after it's been in the sun, not for long, the underside of the dash is really hot and just adds to the problem.

Hi Graham,

I am about to place the cockpit back on my build and got to thinking about your heat problem. Not only have you got heater pipes coming up from the rt side-pod, but on both sides you have the main ally coolant run pipe from the rad backwards, and unless this has been lagged (not suggesting it should)then the hot air generated in the fore-part of the sidepods will inevitably waft up and collect under the dash I suggest?

Now...I was wondering why there is a manufactured gap/hole in the top of the sidepods in the first place (which matches the area which is covered by the wings of the cockpit by the dash). OK , so the various pipes come out to the heater here as does the wiring etc, and of course it is useful to have access to these areas during the build.

BUT, once the electrics and pipes are in place could we not make a couple of ally plates, much like the ally panel, and have this 'screwed' to the top thus covering the hole? You could also 'insulate' the plate. Once in place with neat tightfitting holes for the pipes etc, this would form a totally sealed solution to all that heat coming out from the side-pods?

Is there anything I am missing? It might mean a rearrangement of the fusing area, but I am not at that point yet so can't comment?

What are your thoughts?
