BMW 335i M coupe, Audi RS4 Cab or a Audi TTS
Discussion
Okay chaps.. wonder if you can help...
Currently i own a S2000. The plan is to sell it within a year and to get one of the following: 335i M coupe, RS4 Cab or the TTS.
I need a 3/4 seat for kids hence the change of cars.. all 3 cars will do!
Price:
335i M 2007 with 20k auto £25k
RS4 2006 with 20k miles £35k
TTS 2007 for about £27k.
I am putting £20k cash and the rest as a loan.
My concerns are as follows:
RS4 - a 2006 will be out of warranty and it costs the most but also retains its value.. well atleast 60%. the other issue is the fuel bill.. and it requires a £15k to fud the purchase.
335i M coupe - still under warranty, it is the cheapest to buy but only retains 50% of its value over 3 years. Also... its so common!
TTs - seems a bit expensive for what it is? still under warranty.. and small rear seats. Its prob the most nice to be in...makes you feel like your in something special..maybe?
What do you chaps think?
I have only driven the 335I M and loved it... i have owned the TT 225 coupe and loved that... and i like the audi feel over the bmw... the issue is warranty/cost/loans/ related.

Nice choice to have, but I would be ditching the TTS straight away, due to the TTRS coming out soon, maybe save some beans and get one of those!
As for the RS4, very nice, but not very flashy whereas the BM is a lot better looking in my opinion, althought not quite as fast again, on the road, there wouldnt be mutch in it.
Horses for courses a bit, but although I have an B5 RS4, I would probably choose the BM in that company if it wasnt for the fact that I hate the dealers with a passion, die die die...
So for me I would wait, save and get the TTRS!!

I suppose my budget is £35k max. The TTRS would be sweet but I would have to wait a while for the price to drop on the 2nd hand market.
I am suprised that a RS4 owner is telling me to get a BMW! BMW dealers are not that bad.. are they? I have had good experiences with a few.. well 2 out of 3 when i was trying to test the 335i M. After the warranty expires on the cars i would not take them to the main dealers.. prob specialised workshops.
I test drove the S5 at Whetstone Audi.. and also tested the A4 3.2 Cab.. both sales men were lame.. The S5 chap treated me as if i was poor and said nothing about the car to me about the car or anything. He wanted to cut the test drive short and i insisted on a long route and i missed a turn on purpose to prolong it! After he asked me what I thought of the car, so I told him... it drives like rubbish - no feel in the steering and no urgency with the power, its auto box does not work with the engine when you try to override it.. it cuts back to auto... not so with 335i and the S5 tyre noise is totally unacceptable for a luxury car... and i told him the 335i is a better car! His face dropped... but then again the git was so stuck up i had to hand it to him!
BMW finchley are plain naff too! Never go there for anything... they simply dont give a monkies about anything!

Seems to be a common problem with any make of car, the dealers being poo, the Audi was are especially bad too tbh, just that I know some good specialist is the only reason I have the Audi...
S5 is probably worth avoiding from what you say, I have driven one and wasnt overly impressed, the BM is a nice looking motor and I think I could forgo the getting let out of side turnings for one of those, and when you compare the cost to the RS4 makes a lot of sense to me.

The seats in the back of the TT are very small / tight, and visibility out of the windows for rear-seat passengers is very bad. May be OK as a second car / for very occasional use, but we risked all-out mutiny any time there was a suggestion of one of our children sitting in the back of the TT...
Right a strange suggestion here i know but why not a 2 car option? A b6 s4/estate/saloon/conv 4.ol v8 and no know issues unlike with the b7 rs4 which has suspension issues which can be costly. And then a tvr griffith/cerb/tusc/tamora etc, ariel atom/caterham etc if an atom would be in range of course.
Actually you could get a bmw m6 or m5 for that i believe and the m6 should hold its value quite well.

M6 = ugly back! M5... never owned a 5 door car.. don't appeal to me... trying to keep to 2/3 doorsActually you could get a bmw m6 or m5 for that i believe and the m6 should hold its value quite well.
TVR = expensive engine rebuilds and too many headaches... test drove a T350 a few years ago from TVR.. it broke down... so went to test another T350.. would not start! got the picture... Also need a practical car.. so i can stick a bike on the back.. like i do on the S2000 i have right now.
how expensive are the new M3's to run? A 2007 is £35k...
