Stunning car - I am finally looking to buy one this month after a few years of drooling but ultimately bottling it due to the fright factor of the potential ownership costs. But I have adopted a "sod it" appraoch to that side of the equation and am going in with my eyes open.

There are some lovely ones out there around the £15,000 mark and I would have thought that depreciation over the next few years is going to be minimal from these sort of levels.

I still miss my Rosso Mondiale car hugely, my new cars are better to drive, faster and even more crazy. I'd never sell the Aero (now on a Series IV) but I'd love to find my old masser and give it a good home. Nothing I've ever driven quite has the 'whoohoooo' factor quite like a 3200 when the turbos kick in...

Does anybody think the later models has the 'future classic' potential the 3200 has?
Thinking mainly of 4200 and GT rather than the limited editions.
3200 = last of the true maserati (according to Top Gear anyway!)

I think assetto corsa & gransports will probably hold money, dont see the same for the 4200 really.

I reckon that while the 4200 may be the more sensible purchase - and again there is a reasonable choice sub £20k for these - the 3200 is probably the one with with the most classic potential as the car that marked a turning point for Maserati after a tough time for most of the 1990s.

And of course there are the boomerang lights. If I am honest it is all about them for me but I think the paragraph above sounds more grown up...

So In several years time if the 4200 goes the same way as 90's biturbo's a 4200 should be available for as little a £3 or £4k, do you not think the 3200 will be dragged down by them to a similar level?
Or.....
In several years time will 4200's been seen in an entirely different light to 90's era biturbo's and bottom out at £10k ish and the 3200's climb back up to £20+
All hypothetical, just pondering really and interested in others opinions.

well look at the porsche 993/996 prices, on many cars 993 at a premium, I think the very best 3200's will soon be at parity or a slight premium to 4200's.

In a few years I think 7k buys a ropey 3200, 12-14 buys a tip top one, ropey 4200's around 7-8k, top ones 16k

assetto corsas I see settling at about 15.
