Just a hypothetical Friday afternoon muse.
If i did change from my faithful Cerbera to a Sagaris, do you reckon it would be much of a step up in terms in terms of noise, pace & drama???
Any thoughts??
I've been in friends Sag (alright Tim...) and can say I doubt if you would be disappointed! It was awesome! If i did change from my faithful Cerbera to a Sagaris, do you reckon it would be much of a step up in terms in terms of noise, pace & drama???

They are almost ten years apart in development terms so the Sag should represent a step forward in handling, braking, etc...? Build quality..?
Having said that, I love my cerb and didnt mind stepping back into it at all...
The one thing that put a spanner in the works when I was considering the same was the seats. For my height I have a long back which means I have the seat reclined a lot. The bulkhead behind the seats in the Sag stopped it reclining enough without my knees being up around my ears. Not practical at all.
Not sure about the comments re 10 yrs of improvements in brakes etc. TVR has always used crappy parts

Simon,
I am fortunate to have both
, and they're both great but very different.
The Sagaris is undoubtable a better handling car and should be quicker point to point. However I have had the Cerb for 7 years and covered 70k+ in it, I've had the Sagaris for 3 months and done ~2k miles. I have also spent x,000's of pounds on Cerb in terms of suspension, brakes etc. Therefore I have a huge amount of confidence in the Cerb that I don't yet have in the Sagaris, so generally I feel a lot more confident in the Cerb. Consequently on anything other than really twisty stuff the Cerb is either on a par or better than the Sagaris at the moment, having said that I went up Zig Zag Hill in the Sagaris just after I got it and I can say the Cerb would never have kept up.
The only thing I find a little disappointing with the Sagaris are the brakes; they work but I just prefer the feel of the Cerbera but that may be because on the Sagaris they are floor mounted. (Also, the Cerb's brakes are not standard). The Cerb's, unbelievably, also a bit more relaxing to drive at motorway cruising speeds.
That all may sound a bit negative but the Sagaris is a great car; easier to drive around town, great for a countryside blat and gets a lot more attention that the Cerb. I certainly don't get out of it think it's not quick enough or wishing I had taken the Cerb.
Neil.

I pondered these thoughts a couple of years back and stepped into a £40k Sag for an hour test drive across country, then stepped out and back into my £10k 500 Chim.
The Chim was just as fast across the same piece of windy road and I preferred the sound, so stayed with the Chim.
Now, having said that the Sag was remarkably planted with very compliant damping and I thought it excellent should I ever be able to afford one.
Comparing my Cerb 4.5 to a Sag, well the Cerb is loud, turns lots of heads given its colour, is damn fast and well its just stunning, but I might one day be tempted into an agressive looking speed 6 (Sag). Just somehow think its a step backwards in sheer enjoyment and driving delight (the Cerb is an event) but forwards in looks, but would I want that look every day! My Cerbs a stunner as it is.

Wondered how long it would be before you dropped in Neil. I take it that life with 2 TVR's is suiting you
Hi Iain,
Not really, everytime I go out I have to leave one behind...

Seem to be using the Sagaris for the main events, whilst the Cerb is being used as the 'daily run around'. Not bad for a daily runner, eh?
[off topic]
I parked the Sagaris up the other day and as I came back to the car there was a boy, about six I guess, and I heard him ask his dad if it was the batmobile !!
I let him have a sit in it, then his dad wanted to try it for size. It certainly attracts a lot more attention than the Cerb ever has.[/off topic]
