Ford focus TDCI

HI All
Any one know much about ford diesels. I have ford focus TDCI and the fuel pump is Knackered. I have been told by at when this happens a mechanic friend that when this happens debris from the pump wrecks the injectors is this true? Also i have seen pumps from mondeos etc are they interchangeble? Muy pump has on the lable Delphi KPAA 1S4Q9B395-BD R9044Z2013A 0115808BVE. Which of these numbers needs to match up for a new pump?
