As some of you may know, last year I bought a derelict S2 with the intention of converting it to a V8, now I find that due to circumstances I probably wont be in a position to do this project (Not Health reasons I’m glad to say). I am now facing the dilemma of how best to dispose of the car/engine etc in order to maximise what I get for it all.
The kit I have is as follows:-
1 Rolling bare body on non standard junk wheels G reg, I haven’t lifted the body so cant say re chassis condition , assume it needs outriggers etc.
I have managed to get the original Dash comp with clocks.
1 Rover 3.5 ltr SD1 Engine, this came out of my MG and is the one with the thicker Webbing across the V. This engine needs a rebuild but I have all the following new items to do the job
Oversize 9.5:1 Pistons
Piper 285 Camshaft
Followers, Timing chain ,oil pump, Crankshaft bearings, Valves and springs
Probably other bits I cant remember.
I also have as new Eidelbrock 4 Barrel Carb with Offenhauser mainifold, and twin point Mallory Distributor which were fitted to this engine in the MG
LT77 gearbox to suit the engine
I cant decide wether to advertise it all as a v8 conversion project or whether to sell it individually, I don’t want the car to be scrapped as it would be a shame. I am thinking
Maybe advertise the car as a project (someone may want to do a chassis refurb and paint the body up then simply swap all their bits over once its done to save being off the roads long term). I would then sell the Engine with components to rebuild it, less the Carb and Dizzy which should sell well again on their own, and then sell the box seperately.
Any thoughts would be most welcome, as I will probably need to sell it all over the next 3-4mths
A couple of points to bear in mind are
1. The car owes me £425
2. Carb and Dizzy cost about £400-£450
3. New Engine parts owe me about £400-£450

Ken I'd be interested in these if you are prepared to split.
Drop me an email if you like to discuss further.
