I was trying to download some JPEGs from an SD card via my PDA and somehow managed to overwrite the File Allocation Table (FAT) with another SD cards FAT! Bugger I thought! I tried to recover the photos using Recuva but it wouldn't read the card. Double bugger I thought!
I then though that if I quick formatted the card, it would wipe the FAT and Recuva should work. Success (of limited style).
So I now have a load of recovered JPEGs around 2.5Mb each in size (expected, so OK) but they are all corrupt! Tripple bugger I thought!

I've downloaded a few evaluation copies of various software but I can't find one which will recover the original size. I can get 640 x 480 but not the 5Mpixel or higher that I am expecting.

Any suggestions for how to recover my corrupt JPEGs please?

Have you tried PhotoRec from the TestDisk suite?

It is entirely non destructive and has never failed me.

Best of luck!

Fluffnik,
An excellent suggestion - thank you very much. Whilst it has not recovers 100% of the photos, I think it has come pretty close. After I downloaded and installed it, I found I actually had version 6.9 already on my PC! But then I've so many progs I've downloaded and installed that I haven't a clue as to what's actually on my PC anymore! It even managed to recover some of the avi clips from the SD card as well.

Cheers - I owe you a beer!

It's a quite remarkable little program - if the card's not entirely dead and the data hasn't been overwritten it will get stuff back, works well on HDDs too...

Same site has software to recover MFT from MFT mirror that I've found very useful for dead USB disks.

Tybalt, do you have a link as it's not immediately visible from their homepage please?

Cheers!

Found it as a subpart of TestDisk - guess I should have looked there first!
