Rev counter stopped working . SBC.

I`ve just replaced my delco remy distributor for a Mallory HEI version on my small block chevy engine but having put the plug in and the two other wires the rev counter doesn`t work (does rise a little on start up), I just can`t think what`s wrong .

Are you sure the counter runs off the alternator?

If so then it may just be that the connection to one of the windings does not exist in your new alt. If this is the case you can take it apart and make the connection yourself.

I'm a little confused, have you changed your alternator or distributor (Mallory HEI??)
