If so, any idea how to stop it switching off after a few minutes, even while being charged? Can't believe it's designed that way. As usual I'm probably just missing something simple!

Is it just the autolock kicking in?

Settings>General>Autolock - switch it to 'never'?

Other than that, how do you find the Navigon? Does it need a seperate GPS unit or does it just use the built in iPhone one?

Cheers - yeah you're right. Sorted now.

It operates from its own software (took about 20 mins to download from iTunes), which is infinitely better than streaming Google earth. So far so good, pretty accurate and up to date. The main thing it lacks is a full postcode search. Other than that, I'm very happy with it. Needless-to-say, the battery life is poor if it's not constantly charging - one day Apple will sort that out with their products!

I've found it good, it gets speed cameras next week apparantly. Turning the brightness down saves an awful lot of battery.

Also waiting for the TomTom, but downloaded the free version of navigon on the App store just out of interest.
I hope tomtom has some of the live features and makes use of mobile data for traffic jams and routing, otherwise its navigon for me.
