Have recently been thinking about buying something fruity. I miss the grunty torque of my old TVR,

So, I thought – E39 M5. After a little bit of reading up, I’ve become a little bit scared of the potential running costs (due to reliability).

So, something newer – but still torquey! How about a 6.0 Monaro I thought. Hmmm – prices seem to have stabilised at about £16K. Then I had a look at the VXR8 (which I’d prefer due to the 4 door nature). WOW! Low 20s (or less)!

So, the question is (and I know it’s crystal ball stuff) – what are prices like to do over the next 6 months or so?

Also, I’ve driven a 6.0 Monaro VXR (and almost bought it), but was is the VXR8 like in comparison?

I have owned my std VXR Monaro for nearly two years and now want to tweak it.
However I was tempted by the prices of the VXR8 so I drove one.
Out of the box comparing both cars the VXR8 feels crisper, more responsive and it handles and brakes better.
It is bigger than the Monaro but does not feel it.
Bought one home to show the wife and kids and the looks got the big thumbs down.
According to them. The Monaro looks much nicer and has a much bigger wow factor.
Also think that long term the Monaro will be a better bet value wise.
So I am going to keep it and a few choice tweaks will bring it up to scratch.
Up to you, you pays ya money.........................

You can buy a new VXR8 LS3 engined car from about £23 to £23.5k now. (I just did).

Genuine bargain, and they seem to be selling quickly at that.
