New 316d out - a step too far or the way we'll all be moving?

Could be worth buying as a company car and then re-mapping it.

Still the same 2.0d that is in the 318d and 320d so should tune pretty well.

BIK tax of only £50 a month would appeal to many.

CO2 tax: 13%
Economy: 62.8 mpg
0-62mph: 10.9

As a company car it looks fine. Actually, I'd go further and say it looks a bloody good idea.

For plenty of folk out there, it's all they'll need Mon-Fri.
A lot of reps set the cruise to 70mph and then sort stuff on their bluetooth or listen to their ipods. And for all those claiming p/mile expenses, 60+ mpg would no doubt see you making a few quid.

If I were ever forced into taking a company car, this is the sort of thing I'd look at. Cheap as possible on my wallet to leave money for weekend toys.

It sounds sooo slow. How boring. But for those who dont care about cars, it could be a 'good' company car, economically speaking.

And it would go round corners nicely...

I used to drive my mum's Citroen ZX 1.9 diesel when I was younger - it was the non-turbo version so only had 70bhp, but the chassis was great. It became much more of a challenge to keep up good cross-country times!
