Aircon regass in Surrey needed
Discussion
Has anybody used these Air con refrigerant top up cans from Halfords (and maybe others).
I am not sure how they work, as I thought an Air con system has to have a pretty specific weight or volume of charge.
Short of venting what is already in there, and starting again, how would you know its content.
Do they work ?

Mark - where in Surrey are you? It's a big place...
WokingWedger - yes, i tried one once, cost about £12 or so from Halfrauds, got my aircon working again for a few weeks but then it stopped again. I took it to a proper aircon specialist (near Reading), they regassed with dye (so that if it leaked it would show up) for about £70 i think it was and it worked perfectly for another year until i sold the car. So i don't think those aircon cans from Halfords are all that great, but who knows, maybe someone else has had a better experience with one.

Definitely do not use the cans, the problem is you can not measure the amount of refrigerant you are putting into the system.
Also part of the air con 'service' is to put vacuum on the ac system to boil off any moisture in the system (this also shows up a large leak in the system)
The problem with quick fit type places is that the will only vacuum the system for a couple of minutes which is not long enough.
Edit- as for recommended places, not a clue
best bet would be to ring round some local indies if no one can recommend anywhere.
