I'm about to go down the shop to buy food for pasta sauce.

Need something new and different to cook that's not Bolognese.

At least Bolognese is a good excuse to buy a bottle of red.

Help! smile

Carbonara? Very nice, very easy.

Pancetta (bacon will do)
Eggs
Cheese (Pecorino if you can get it, Parmesan will do)
Cream

Simple tomato sauce:

Olive oil
Sliced garlic
Hot pan
Can of tomatoes (or really ripe fresh ones)
Pinch of sugar

Simmer for 20 minutes and you're done.

ETA: Add some black olives, chilli, capers and a few anchovies for Puttanesca. Serve on spaghetti with chopped flat-leaved parsley and shaved Parmesan over.

A bit late, but a staple fave in our house is honey and mustard - mustard (whole grain) + honey (squeezey) + white wine vinegar + seasoning.... easy peasy and add chicken, chorizo and pine nuts. Yummy.

Student "posh dinner" pasta:

finely chop one small or medium onion (no giant burger onions)
Crush 2 cloves of garlic
Chop two fresh chillies
Open one jar of passata
Tear one large bunch of basil
Have ready one packet of dolcelatte

Cook penne until al dente.

fry the onions, garlic, and chillies until onion has softened. Add teh passata. simmer for 10 minutes, while the pasta boils. Then add the basil and cheese and stir through the penne.
