I am looking to set myself up as a Limited company as I am doing a lot of contractor work these days in the Oil and Gas Industry.
I will need an accountant preferably with experiance of dealing with Limited Companies and possibly setting the whole thing up but dont know where to start looking.
Any recommendations would be very helpful.

Colin.

Do you want somebody local so you can meet them face to face, or does that not bother you. If not, then I'd recommend www.nixonwilliams.com

If you are looking for Edinburgh guys, I can't recommend Norman Downie & Kerr in Constitution Street Leith highly enough, they have saved me thousands over the years.

Can set up limited companies fairly easily. Best to get experts to do so. and would suggest Oswalds company formatuion agents in Edinburgh.
Before you do so, you need to ask yourself why are you setting this up in the first place!
If you think it is for tax reasons, then would suggest you get good tax adivce BEFORE setting up! Worhwhile spending the money on good advice before make a decision. May be a few hundred, but is cheaper in long run!
If looking for some good guys at a lowish price then Perhaps John DiMambro of J Dimambro and co. An old mate of mine, but very clever and based in Hmailton. Tell him I recomended you, or perhps not! I regret that I know lots of accountants, but I am quite normal ( well compared to them).
Always get good advice to make a decision, not after it!
Paul

If he's doing oil & gas stuff, which he says he is, all the Oil & Gas companies insist on contractors being limited.

Freelance World, part of Acumen are meant to be quite good for one man limited company work. Main office is Aberdeen, but I think they have one further south too.

Im trying to get shot of these guys just now. Signed up over a year ago and everything was peachy until recently they trippled their monthly fee's for doing alot less work. I'm in the middle of moving to Graeme D McKay & Co Ltd (01224 624291) on Queens Rd in Aberdeen, tell him i sent you over. So far he's been very reasonable and as far as i know specialises in Oil & Gas LTD Companies.

My old man's had a bunch of problems with Freelance too. And not the only one from what I hear...

Can I recommend Williamson & Dunn in aberdeen? Made my transition to Ltd company status painless and been great to deal with for the last few years.

I am working under the contractor guise as well , trying to aviod IR35 like many no doubt

I use Eagle consulting up in inverness who spelicasie in this sort of thing

Dont touch Freelance world , numerous late payments and am sure that they are going to be hit bad by the reveune rules regrading umbrella companies

Cheers

my colleagues wife runs an accountancy business in Aberdeen and the majority of her clients work in the offshore Oil and Gas Industry. Drop me an email and I'll put you in touch.
