Sadly seems to be the way these days with so called 'Citizen Journalism', cars burning, people dying, most important thing to some people is to video it and upload it.

Real shame, chances are these muppets were videoing from their office with fire extinguishers at their disposal.

Stick it on youtube now and laugh, sad wan***!

I tell you what guys, lets set your cars on fire and film it sure you wouldn't laugh then.

They had plenty of time to get in there and put that out, leaving only minor damage.

I don't think I'd risk injury putting out a fire on someone else's car, especially when the owner knew full well what was going on because he had jumped out as the fire began! To be fair to the guys watching, it looks like they were on a public walk way and so would have had as much access to a fire extinguisher as the owner - I'm not defending their comments though.

If you can bare to watch it long enough they are filming though some iron railings, outside. Unless it is some sort of balcony in their office? Either way, if the owner wasn't bothered enough to do anything about it, I know I wouldn't want to risk getting my arm blown off doing him a favour. At the end of the day, the G can be replaced.

Ah, I only watched the first few minutes. Probably wasn't the only person staring out their office at it though

Had a serious fire in one of our Gallardo's recently. The problem is often a split hydraulic fluid hose which sprays fluid onto the exhaust. We caught this one in time as Andy and I had fire extinguishers to hand so it burnt out the wiring loom and melted the rear engine lid etc. Had we not had one it would have burnt out completely without a doubt. Interestingly later Gallardo's now have the aforementioned hose rerouted away from the exhaust...

Always always have an extinguisher in your Lambo. They don't cost much to fit but could save you an expensive claim

Watch it with the sound off. Just look at the timings from the white smoke to the first flames and you will see just how quickly cars go up in flames.

I've yet to see a car that has had a fire that wasn't written off. If there had been a hose in the reception of the office building nearest the car and someone brave enough to use it at close range to the car, they just might have been able to get away with a gutted engine bay - but doubtful.

As much as I love my car I would not go back to it with just a fire extinguisher. Once the heat has built up the plastics and rubber give off toxic fumes and once burnt they can produce an acid (can't remember which one) that will burn through your skin if you touch it.

A sad end to a G, but no-one got hurt.

Probably due to them selling(?) the footage to the media... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8138012.stm
