I'm soon going to be pressing my old mountain bike into service as a commuting bike and was thinking about getting some road biased tyres. The bike won't be doing any off roading at all so I'm prepared to get something pretty slick, but it must be able to deal with some fairly rough roads and potholes that make up my route to work.

Has anyone used a mountain bike slick? Is the road performance over knobblies huge? Can anyone give me a recommendation as to what might be best? Will 26x1.5 give me pinch punctures? Would 26x1.75 or 26x2.1 be preferable if I'm leaping over potholes?

Thanks in advance.

I use Kenda Kwest (no idea if they're still available) 1.5" on my mtb commuter running at about 55psi (I'm 13.5 stone) and they deal with rough roads, paths, and even a small offroad section fine.

Thanks, my search for slicks didn't bring any results. I should have tried a bit harder.
