Can anyone help?

During normal driving when I brake, the hand brake light comes on and the dash bleeps at me for having the hand brake on while moving (it’s obviously not on). When I then accelerate the light will go out again. I assume this is a loose sensor somewhere but does anyone know where?

If when stationary I apply the hand brake then release it the light goes out, until I brake next time.

Thanks in advance.

Have you checked the brake fluid levels? Sounds like it could be low.

Wot he said. It's actually the general brake system warning light. It comes on when the handbrake is applied or the brake/clutch fluid level is low (they share the same reservior).

Get is checked out ASAP.

Could also be your brake pads are getting on the thin side. This is what was triggering mine.

As the pads wear the calliper pistons move out with the space being filled by fluid from the reservoir.
Just worth checking before topping up. If you top up and then replace the pads you will have to remove some fluid from the system or it will overflow in to the drivers foot-well.

This was an early sign of the clutch slave cylinder seals going on mine.
Top up the level & cross your fingers!

Mine has a similar problem except that it comes on when going either up or down hill regardless of if I'm braking or not and sometimes the light won't come on at all if I have the handbrake on.

Unfortunately it was the clutch frown

and the radiator and 2 engine mounts and a lambda sensor and two new front tyres (needed a full service next month so why not do it all at the same time)

Strange that the levels seemed fine on the clutch and break fluid.

Very expensive to get rid of an annoying bleep smile
