is this Q620 any good? i need a decent hardtail for not too much money. mostly road mileage but will get the occasional off road working.

it will be a good, solid and dependable bike, i thrashed a spesh hardrock pro around trail centres and bridlepaths for years with no complaints. the felt will take a good amount of abuse and you will hone up your off road skills. it will be a bit heavy but thas par for the course. any bike at this price will have sacrifices as its the market a lot of manufacturers desire, essentially its the first "proper" mtb price bracket. components such as wheels wont be light and other bits like the mechs are generally pretty bombproof on cheaper bikes.
personally i would go for the Giant XTC4 though. i know and trust Giant frames and this has the rockshox dart fork rather than a relatively unknown suntour fork. its a good base to upgrade too should you so desire.

whatever you get make sure it has a lock out on the fork to make commuting easier and make sure its comfy!

Very similar spec, I use a Specialized Crossroads Comp for my commute, this will be just for weekends taking the kids for rides over the woods. Must admit though I am looking forward to trying out those hydrolic brakes! I paid £425 for the Rainier (a tad cheaper than the Felt) from my local bike shop, as every on-line shop selling it for £299.99 didn't have my frame size!!!!! Still I think if you could get the Rainier for £300 then that would deffinatley be the choice over the Felt. But at comparable prices I really think there is not much in it.
