Was talking to Gareth about this and he suggested to open it to the forum.

Thinking that next year we run say a 6 meet series at Shaky`s.

Best run of each event per car is recorded, anyone running all 6 events can drop their worst time and the remaining 5 runs per car are used to determine an average ET for the season for the championship (This allows for runners not able to make all the events)

Run during the week if possible to improve the availability, but timetabled well in advance to allow people to get the time off work.

What do you all think?

sounds good to me, if we could get a couple of their spare saturdays
as well it may boost numbers.
Are we doing anymore this year?

I know, but I`m thinking if we don`t get in soon all the other forums and clubs will have taken the spare Sat`s as I`m sure Shakeys will be keen to promote events like ours now, so was asking about an alternative just in case. (Would always try for a weekend slot if able)

I need to know if the weekdays would be popular enough to run the series.

I'd be interested.

Might be a little difficult to get 5-6 days off during the week, there might be quarter ends and stuff I'd have to navigate around.

When would we expect the season to run?
Would we look to have different classes of cars, or would it be bracket racing?

I can't see me doing this more than twice a year, TBH. If I wanted to get into it that much I doubt I've have chosen a Monaro...

well I suppose on the plus side if it ran 5-6 times a year there might actually be a date that coincides with my holidays and I could actually make it down to one of them. Do think that might be a bit too much though for the folk on here, hire of track and accomodation/meals etc for those that have to travel makes it an expensive day out - okay as a one off, maybe even twice a year but 5-6 times is a serious commitment.

Could do weekends or a mixture of weekdays & weekends. Would be a great way to test any uprgrades.

I would be up for a series of sort.

Weekend only though I think. I would be able to get the odd weekday off of work with a bit of notice - but I wouldn't want to commit 6 of my precious holiday days to drag racing a year.

In all honesty I only intend on drag racing my car 2 or 3 times a year tops - I don't want to punish her too much!

Not only that, but my times won't alter much until my car's specification alters - and I ain't got that much spare cash floating around at the moment to splurge on her!

I will also be looking at attending some other organised drag day events such as Amercian muscle car drag days - to give some Mustangs, Corvettes, etc a run for their money. Mix it up a bit!

I'm in the fortunate position of taking time to suit myself. I would love to do something like this. Great idea Jez. As I sadi it would not be so easy for the guys on a 9-5 schedule though.

What about a 6 round series with only 3 counting toward the total.

Plus individual round trophies in addition to the end of season presentation.

If its too much then I guess just a couple at the weekend as stand alone events then

What made last time so good was the quantity of cars we had, I "assume" (and you know what that does....) that if there were 6 opportunities to go you would get alot of people just attending the odd one, when it suits them. I expect everyone made the effort and planned stuff around our last meet, but would not think that to be the case if it was a regular event.
HOWEVER, for the hardcore racers, It would be a good regular event, being able to show their latest mod, and how its altered their times etc.....

For me, once in a while is a good day out.

Just my thoughts, I suppose you need to wait and see what everuone else thinks to decide if its a goer.

The problem as I see it. Great for those of us who are well entrenched in the idea. But might tend to get a bit stale for those not so, and it "might" loose a bit of the magic.

It's quite an effort for the distance travellers to do the one, so a reagular commitment to six, the numbers might drop off and make it less viable commercially.

Theres nothing to stop us doing our own RWYB's and posting up the results for others to chase.

I'm deffo up for it, not wanting to piss on the fire, but I don't know whether you could get 40 or so cars to commit on a regular basis, but would love to be proved wrong.

6 could still be done.

Perhaps if we had invitational type events.

I am thinking vs Supra's, VXR Online, TVR's, American Muscle maybe even jap cars in addition to 2 or 3 pure LSx events.

I would probably only want to run in 3 but could well want to watch a couple. The fact that it is being run for the event and not for profit could well help.
