So, is it me or has this reached epidemic/pandemic levels. I hear it on the news, at work, Sarkozy recently: (something like) ''So, we are gathered here today in Normandy..'' and there are more examples, none of which I can think of right now. What's even more infuriating is the more you think about it the more you find yourself using it!

Starting with 'look' is much worse IMHO.

Seems to be an Australian thing......

And a Tony Blair thing which I think has carried over into Brown's reign.

'So what?' has a different meaning from 'What?'...

Was that any help?

The French have been doing it for years. It might not be a conjunction in the French language. (That's a guess!)

In Amerigoland and England, it's different and I often think, "I didn't see the question or problem."

Almost as annoying as starting a sentence with 'sorry, but blah blah'

You're not sorry are you!

I love the French word 'Alors' and of course 'Zoot Alors', for-mee-da-bla!

And of course:

'He turned around and said to me...., so I turned around and said to him...., then get this, he turned around and said to me....'

It's the image you get in your head that is perplexing smile

It's as bad as starting a sentence with 'basically'
