Dodo Juice Diamond White
Discussion
Hi,
I've got a bright silver Audi A3 and I've been using Colinite for a couple of years which is very durable but I thought I should try something else to get the car looking a bit nicer. The paints in good order (freshly machine polised) so its pretty much defect free which is cool.
Anyway, I've got far too much detailing stuff in the garage that I need to use up so I'm after a bit of advice. Paints pretty freshly polsihed so I was looking at the following once the cars foamed, washed, dried and clayed etc...
Chemical Guys Acrylic Shine II
Chemical Guys Extreme Top Coat
Dodo Diamond White (couple of layers)
Dodo Juice Red Mist
Is the above an alright order to apply?. I got the chemical guys stuff a while ago but I've not really used it. I'd be looking at applying the chemical guys by hand with a pad but if better results can come from applying by machine I can do that.
Any opinions?. Also how long should I leave the Diamond White to cure and between coats?.
I'm just looking at getting a routine down and sticking to it as I always find myself 'experimenting' which I'm sure isnt giving me the results I could get if I did things in the right order. Plus bright silvers a right pain in the a$$ to get a decent level of shine and 'flake pop'.
Thanks
GD

I'm not familiar with the CG products you're using but any polished surface will be fine for the Diamond White. Allow 5-10 minutes to cure (buff when hazed), 30 mins to an hour between coats (applying two is a good call) and then leave for 24 hours before applying Red Mist. You can layer Red Mist almost instantly, so maybe put 2-3 coats of that on if there's time. Or save the Red Mist for use after a weekly wash as a 'top up' of the protection and shine.
Colly is a good wax, so there will only be a subtle difference in looks and the Colly may yet outlast it as it's a hybrid wax/sealant. But Diamond White is a nice carnauba, goes on nicely, buffs nicely and should be very pleasant to use.
I use Lime Prime Lite under whites/silvers as a glaze before the Diamond White, but then I do have more of a reason to use that than any CG products. But a clayed and machined surface, with Lime Prime Lite, two coats of Diamond White (or even better, Supernatural) and then a few coats of Red Mist on top is about as good as paintwork gets, at least in terms of what the Dodo can offer you.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Dom, much appreciated.
I know the colly is a good wax but I've been using it for a while so fancied venturing out and trying a posher wax. I'm not fussed about the durability of the colly over the Dodo as I keep on top of my car cleaning anyway.
It all sounds good anyway, just got to wait for it to arrive now so I can give it a go. As I said the paints in really good order anyway considering its a 9 year old car so fingers crossed after a couple of layers of Dodo and a going over with red mist it'll look as good as it ever will.
Thanks again

Well my little order arrived today. Ordered a load of new applicator pads and microfibres etc as all mine were getting a bit tired.
Well, the Diamond White smells LUSH!. Really nice.
Anyway, car was cleaned and dryed and I set about putting a layer on, first impressions are good and a little goes a very long way.
First coats just gone on so I'll give it 20 minutes before buffing it off.
First impressions are very good, nice to use, smells great and a pot should last a very long time.

Bit of an update,
2 layers and its looking excellent, really glossy
Far nicer than the Colinite for sure. Easier to get on and off too.
I've given it a couple of coats of redmist this morning and it looks even better.
Beadings pretty good too, fed up of getting soaked everytime the water runs off the roof when I get in it though

Great value too considering how little it took to do the car, the pot should last for ages. Smells lovely too, top product
I've noticed this...yet on other forums there is sort of discussions on how many 'cars' a pot should do - and 3-4 seemed reasonable. I've got a panel pot of supernatural which has so far done a full two layer job on an elise, audi A4 cab, mazda 6, and a nissan micra. and i reckon i have half a panel pot left. So what gives?! Im definitely getting full coverage...goes on an buffs up beautifully....and i dont really know how I could use any more if i tried!

I sold a tub of wheel sealant to a guy once and after a few days asked him how he was getting on with it. He replied to me saying that he only had about 1/3 of it left after doing 4 layers on each wheel! I've since sealed the same set of wheels for him after he had them refurbed and used about 1/6 of a tub for 4 layers. I was disappointed that I'd got through that much lol.
I've got one of these 30 ml sample pots of Supernatural - thought a little of the real deal is better than a load of erm, less good stuff - anyway so far I used it twice as a topping on the Chimaera and it looks like it will last me at least 4-5 times more (ok, there's not a lot of bodywork on a TVR Chim)...
Oh and while we're at it - I'm using Colonite for durable protection, then Supernatural to top it off. Sounds sensible? And what about this Red Mist stuff - sounds like something I should want to try as both my cars are solid red?

We sell panel pots as generally doing a 'whole car' with careful application, but a chap with an R32 Golf got 5 layers on with some left, and that could mean 7-8 layers on a mini or Smart car. Howard (Nightmare) is going for a world record I think! Maybe you'd only get one layer on a stretch Hummer.
SN over Colly will be fine, just allow the Collinite to fully cure. It's compatible with the Supernatural.
Red Mist can again, go over the Colly or SN, if the layer has fully cured. The colour won't make any difference, but as a layer of polymer sealant (and instantly relayerable 2-3 times at that!) it should make the surface very 'glassy' to the touch and add extra gloss and depth. I personally feel 'raw' wax gives the best beading (2x layers of Supernatural, freshly applied) but the Red Mist beads aren't far off and it's a 100% synthetic 0% carnauba product. Does very well for a robo dodo
