I've got any image that I need to take the background out of. Its a plain white background but I need to make it transparent. I'm putting it into a Powerpoint presentation and it'll look daft with a white rectangle round it.

In PS I've managed to delete the background from around it, using layers. But when I remove the blue backing layer (The layer I used to make sure I've deleted all the white from around the object) and save it, PS puts a white background back in and its annoying me.

I cant figure out how to save the image without the background put back in.

TIA
Stuart

Layer mask or path I think. There is software to help you, OnOne have Cut It Out and Mask Pro that you should be able to get a trial of

Can a jpeg handle transparency? As far as I remember you'd need to save it as a gif to get this.

Simple answer (PS Idiot here) If you just want the white to be transparent, this can be done in Powerpoint. Just select the "set transparent colour" icon and chose the background colour (looks a bit like a pen if I remember rightly). Can't be more specific as I'm on a Mac now and it's all different silly
Pretty sure this won't work if your image has any white in it though, as that will be transparent as well..... getmecoat

ETA Too slow again...
