Iv just got back from my IVA and although i failed on some silly bits, the new rule changes were nothing to worry about! The main things i failed on were:-

No covers on the bottom adjusters on the front shocks
No edging strip on the back edge of the nosecone
Heat proof banding required on the front section of the exhaust
no rear reflectors
clutch pipe rubbing in engine bay
symbols for break cylinder (new IVA rule)
hand break needs adjusting
Speedo 1MPH out on the 35MPH reading

All in all nothing to serious and nothing that i cant sort out for the re-test

I think this is what we call 'a good fail', nothing too much to get sorted hopefully a quick fix and get your re-test booked in

Congratulations.
I would regard that as a pass. As you say, everything is easily fixed and the retest only addresses the failed items so job done.

Is the exhaust wrap something new? I have put 2 Cobra kits through IVA which have not required this on the side pipe collectors.
The manual in the link at the top of the kit car section doesn't mention anything about it. Then again it doesn't mention anything about the 30 and 50 degree wheel and tyre protrusions in it either??????

yes ^^^ Wot they said!

Short of a first time pass, I'd class that as a pretty bloody good result, especially with a newly introduced set of regulations!

Well done, that man! clap

section 09D point 17 of the current manual says 'The type of fluid to be used in the hydraulic transmission of braking systems must be identified in accordance with ISO standard 91281987.
The relevant symbol according to Figure 1 or 2 must be affixed in a visible position in indelible form within 100 mm of the filling ports of the fluid reservoirs, additional information may be provided by the manufacturer'

basically you need a bright yellow sticker of the required shape with DOT4 written in it and stuck within 100mm of of your break vylinder, or have a new style cap for your cylinder with the marking on it.

the tyre protection is in my copy of the manual. I can send you a copy of it if you want.

Thanks for the offer, but I will call the test centre a few days before my next test to see what, if any changes have been made to the test.

so nothing to worry about!!
