Surrey Rolling Road Dyno day
Discussion
Jez you mentioned you had provisionally booked Vixpys for early October. Whats the situation on that mate. I want to stick to SRR as that's where my last reading was taken. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my own reasons but also because jumping for one Dyno and another is not gonna get me a accurate comparison. That way i can compare dyno results from my last visit to see what gains i've made through mods i've had since my last visit. I wouldn't get that going anywhere else.
so you're going to make sure the ambient weather conditions are the same and the fuel in your tank is an identical chemical match for that in your car the last time, that your tyre pressures are the same and the tread is worn to the same level and the tyres are at the same temperature to make sure you're getting the same level of grip, that you're car is bound to the dyno using the same fixing points and same force because if not and for any number of other reasons it wont make the slightest bit difference if you go back to SRR because the chances of getting that precise a comparison are frankly nil. This is why ringram is always banging on about doing it on the same dyno on the same day and why if you really want to see what difference a mod makes you should dyno before, fit it and then dyno immediately afterwards on the same day otherwise the changing conditions make it pointless. My car has differed by over 40rwhp on the same dyno with no change in mods - just 6 months between readings!!!

Hi mel stick with the dyno you trust.
not suggesting she cant trust Vixpy - just pointing out the flaws in her argument about getting accurate comparison. Unlike some I dont have an axe to grind.
Just for reference it wasnt Marks dyno I was talking about with the figures on mine. Never been on his - only time he's had my car on a dyno was back at LSV nearly 4 years ago. But I have attended a lot of dyno days with various clubs up here on all kinds of rollers and depending who you "believe" my cars either running 305rwhp or 376rwhp or somewhere in between from any number of figures I've been given.
Luckily I realised there's no point being anal about getting a number and that they're really just fun days out and the reason I do so many is the guys at the car clubs love to see and hear the big V8 getting the guts revved out of it and numbers appearing up they can only dream of from their Astra/Vectras etc. Last one I did one guy nearly wet himself when the kickback on the dyno threw up an error that read as though I had 540fwhp. So a bit of fun yes, actually any use for going back days, weeks, months later for a comparison - no.

Good idea!
That ip is coming from the hsv's webserver by the looks of it. I traced it to somewhere near Manchester lol
there must be a glitch in the system somewhere.

I could'nt even be arsed to read all of that. SRR is my Dyno of choice. Thats where i'll be going. End of. Keep your statistics for someone that understands them. I have my reasons as i said in my first post. Not all of which i'll air on a public forum.
I don't know whats happened to this forum. We cant suggest a SRR day without all of this bullshit and politics. Where's the "fun" gone. I question if i belong here anymore. Think i may just buy a decent book. At least i wont get questioned about why i didn't choose a different one
Sorry its come to this Jez
Mate if you do decide to do a dyno day at SRR i'm in. If not the car wont be dyno'd again.stevieturbo said:
I think the only issue of contention is the fact that 2 rolling road days have literally popped up at the same time.
It may be pure coincidence, although it does appear as if thats not the case.
There are plenty of owners on this forum. There are enough of us to go around. Jez mentioned SRR for three months away. Surely theres enough space between the two for both to be "doable" It may be pure coincidence, although it does appear as if thats not the case.
I had an awesome day out at the last SRR dyno day and since having mods have wanted to return to see if I've gained any ponies.
I didn't realise there was a limit to the amount of dyno's we could organise. Jez had actually mentioned a SRR dyno day before the other Dyno thread was started. I followed on from that.
I guess you don't need a dyno day to test your mods out, just go down there with your £40 and off you go?
There's no restriction the amount of dyno days we can have but attendence might be limited at one or both. I've said before most of us are objective people prepared to try anything in the name of entertainment. If people don't want to come for whatever reason it's up to them.
I'm with Jez: If people start pledging allegiance I'm outa here.

It may be conincidence, but it doesnt appear so. And given it wasnt either of the RR operators that advertised the intentions, its hardly fair to either, as is likely to lead to some sort of conflict.
Or maybe not, but I dont see it as fair on either of them

I've stayed way out of this because if people wish to use my dyno then thats great, but I'm never going to get into online arguments just to make the case for this.
The only thing I would say is that when the audi boys do dyno days with me they do one with me and one further north with another rolling road. Both on the same day. A North vs South competition if you like. Since Mark's dyno could easily be moved further north from his position, it may be a way to keep everybody happy.
However, its not for me to tell you guys what to do. So I'm going back to my box.
