Well, big decision made. I know some of you know already, but Vicki and I are having a new family project to get on with later this year (and before anyone assumes wrongly, it's not another baby). That means some changes to our current plans, the first of which is to find something more 'suitable for the job' than the Beast parked in the drive.

I have just put it up in the PH classifieds, and will be really very sad to see it go considering it has been so much fun to own and drive, been unbelievably reliable, and surprisingly cheap to maintain and run (with the exception of fuel at 18MPG when the right foot gets a bit heavy wink.

After a good hunt on the Autotrader and PH site, and the prices seem oddly high compared to what I expected (Then again, they are still advertised, and necessarily sold yet). I've advertised mine as the cheapest VXR at £11,900. Anyone think i'm in the right ballpark?

Hopefully when I find something new, I'm still welcome around here. This forum really does have a fantastic bunch of people, and the awesome weekend meet was testament to how well we all get along.

Fraser

Seems reasonable for one of the rarer VXR models. I would have been interested in taking a look if I was still looking for one. thumbup

BTW - were they fitted with headers from new then from the factory on VXR's ? Not questioning your ad just genuinely asking as I thought it was just an aftermarket mod ?

Yes, HSV's (VXR) are, CV8's are not - from factory.

Only the early VXR's had headers instead of manifolds. The HSV headers aren't as long as the long tube headers that collect under the car (defilipo, etc), but are a long way superior to cast iron manifolds.
HSV really put a lot of thought and effort into the original VXR models that came to the UK. Vauxhall gained a great Monaro Muscle Car reputation based on them, thanks to Top Gear and the like, which I guess is partly responsible for the fact we have LS2 Ro's and VXR8's here now.

I see - thanks. Learn a new thing eveyday on here smile

Hope you find a buyer soon, I think they will become a sought after model being so few of them around.

I'd bite your hand off for that price but, unfortunately, I won't be in the market till around october.

Can't imagine you'll have any problems shifting it! Good luck.

Mel, you really are a darling biggrin I think I'll still be around for at least the social side (Sausage/Bacon sarnies at Dyno days hehe ). Once we get our family project under way, I might just appear back in a R8 in 6 months or so wink In the mean time, I might just have to bring something different (and cheap) to a drag day just to keep everyone on their toes!

I'd be well pleased to be at an event and see someone beat my 13.1 @ 108 in a factory spec 'Ro thumbup
