One for the UK would be even more simple. The dots wouldn't move.

ETA. It is very cool though.

Reading closely, it's just based on the timetable, not GPS data. Yet.

Still awesome though.

They'd never allow it in this country, because of the over-reaction to terrorism. Someone 'might' make use of the data to blow up a train. rolleyes

There were similar comments being made when ship AIS data started to become available online.

What's wrong with the national rail enquiries website? That's real time rather than based on a timetable so much more accurate. Admitedly it doesn't have a pretty map to look at biggrin

Well it's already available for buses over here, just a matter of time for trains.

It'd be better if you could drag and drop the trains to where you wanted them to go.

I've a question..

Your sat at home.. And you have a look at this site, surely your not going to make it to the station in time before the train gets there?

I believe it's the Gare d'Orsay (now museum) in Paris.

You will if you live next door to the station.

You will if you live next door to the station.
Or if you live in the modern age and have internet on your mobile...

We have something at work that shows where all the UK trains are in real time. All the trains are colour coded too, to tell you if they are on time or how late they are running. Can be quite interesting to watch, especially around London Bridge in the rush hour.

The fastest train I found was only doing 104 KPH.

Given it's the Swiss, they don't need GPS - the trains stick to the timetable.

(well nearly, but they are even efficient about being late - I was on a train from Zug to Zurich on Tuesday that was running four minutes late and just before every station they announced which platform each connection was departing from and for less frequent connecting trains that the train was being held).
