As in Tag Heuer Calibe x, what does it actually mean? I know it refers to the mechanism in the watch, but what significance do the numbers have? I.e. Calibre 1, 12, 17 etc.

Does the number of complications have an impact on it?

I'm just interested as I've just bought a watch on Holiday (for a great price), and suddenly thought...I dont know what it actually means!

Tag Heuer Carrera Caliber 1, Limited Edition

Instead of googling (before you ask), I thouht I'd give you the satisfaction of ridiculing me. Think of it as a service to the community.

Its the number assigned by the watchmaker to the movement - effectively a model number. I don't believe there is any general significance to the number. Some watchmakers will have a system with implied meaning others not.

I don't know that specific watch/movement but I'd guess its actually an ETA movement (which will have an ETA assigned number) which Tag have "re-branded" with their own calibre number.

As above: there was a time when it held some significance for Heuer, but now its a marketing device only.
