Water sensor warning code

Water temp reading 102 upto 110 and error code coming up saying water temp sensor.

If you are not noticing any issues with the car over heating then yes, they are not the best sensors and tend to go a lot.

There are two sensors, one for the dashboard and one for the engine, if the car is running fine then it will be the dashboard one which is faulty. They are fairly cheap, around £15 if I remember correctly.

Water temp sensor is under the airbox (there are two of them it's under the butterfly for C2 for the dash read out) not hard to change (need to remove the airbox) £15 from Power. It depends if the sensor if duff or you have actually got temps that high. Whats the water level like in the Rad? if its OK it is most likely the sensor but you may want to get it checked at Power (they can read the temps off the ECU) to be sure.

The sensors are cheap and you get what you pay for I'm afraid. They work for a while - I've been through one every year or two.

Better to order a Bosch equivalent that's £25 as a local Bosch dealer has just helped me find (including the other one that the ecu reads from to adjust the mapping). Dom may also be able to source for you of course and is always helpful.

Same faults as i get but i get oil temp as well.
Replaced the thermistor £40 and the sensor £15 also ordered a alloy rad to be on the safe side.
Also your pod could be misreading.

Sounds like the sensor - I had a similar problem a couple of months ago, my water temp would read 115 and I'd get the sensor error. Replaced the sensor and its now fine! If you buy a new sensor make sure you get the one with the trailing wire as there are 2 water temp sensors - one for the ECU and one for the pod.

It's 0280 130 026 for the ecu sensor - BUT we've just found a slight incompatability with the gasket fitting that we need to check out. Dash water sensor will need a change of end connector which again we're checking out.

Update - the Bosch sensor (replacing the ECU sensor near cylinder no.5) just needed a standard copper gasket to fit as one wasn't supplied.

Been running this week, the diagnostic log shows no more spikes of +15C that were triggering the EFI code 4, in fact the graph shows it hasn't been above 92C on M-way, fast A & B-road fun & queues in warm 24C temps.

Anyone needing a dash water sensor as well will need a standard replacement as it has a fly lead & different plug; STR8SIX has plenty in stock.
