The E60 offset is 15-25 and the E46 is 15-20. You can get spigot-rings made for it but they are generally regarded as a bad idea because they are are not normally high-precision parts, they wear and corrode and when they do they will not hold the wheel central to the hub.

I think the E60 OEM M5 wheels are 19" so is the OP asking about M5 wheels from an E39 perhaps?

Not sure if the previous generation M5 had 18's - it's possible the original question related to those wheels?

If they are 18" 'M5 style' wheels the supplier should be able to confirm if they will fit and you'll need to make a decision about possible fitment of non-BMW wheels.

I don't think E39 or E60 will fit.

Bit OT, but I saw an E36 Touring the other week with what looked like E34 M5 wheels on it and it looked cool

Genuine M5 wheels, whether E34, E39, or E60 will not fit as they run lower offsets, E46 sports runs ET47 front and ET50 rear E36 offsets are similar to E46.

Yep, the E36 M3 saloon had these wheels as standard:

Those don't look like OEM E34 M5 Type II's to me.

The hub bore diameter on an E39 is 74.1 mm whereas most if not all other recent BMWs have 72.5 mm, so it would not fit unless using spigot rings + ET is probably off.

oh, ok, i see. The wheels i was on about are the same as these.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BMW-M5-Rear-Alloys_W0QQitemZ...

Having looked at them again I think they are just 18's off a 5 series m-sport circa 03?

E39 wheels will not fit, M5 even less so.

The bore is too small and the offset is too agressive, the wheel will be out passed the arch by over an inch.

e39 wheels do go on e36's (so e46's too) with spigot rings (which can be bought from ebay easily, get metal ones not plastic ones, theyre load bearing) i wouldnt be bothered about it being "regarded as a bad idea" if its good enough for the drifters (who do it because the e39 has a much more arch filling offset than the e36) who spend most of there time smashing into kerbs and applying forces to suspension components from angles they werent really designed for, you'll be fine.

and if they corrode, spend a couple of quid on a new set smile

I'm not sure what the offset is on the e46, on the e36 i'm 90% that e39 wheels need some kind of arch work!

Doubt they would fit without a lot of hassle.
