Need help from 4.2 V8 Owners with a rear dipstick

Hi guys,

Any of you that have the earlier 4.2 V8 with the dipstick on the back of the engine...i need a huge favour.

Basically i have noticed mine is missing and covered with a black plastic cap. A ring around the TVR parts shops and its now a discontinued item.

What i need is the measurements of it so i can get one fabricated.

I need the length in mm (upto where it sits flush with the entry hole) its width and distance of the oil level markers from the bottom, a picture/ photo would be ideal and all other corresponding measurements.

Blimey, got mine in front of me now, but it's got about a 20 degree bend in it. I really wouldn't rely on it's markings. I'd be inclined to add your own, once you've put the correct refill amount in it.

I reckon 546mm to the bottom of the 'bell'

Add another 18mm for the inside of the bell

To give a total, for the complete part of the stick that enters the tube... of 564mm

You could probably add at least couple of mm for the bend in the stick, that I'm not going to attempt to straighten any more

Width of stick is 4mm

Width of 'bell' to stop it falling down the tube is 19mm

Bottom of stick to lower mark (Full, minus 1 litre ?) is 46mm

Lower mark to full mark is 31mm

I've a feeling your going to get Ten different measurements back for this

I'd make it somewhere near the average & make your own low & high marks once fitted & refilled with oil.
