Stupid Question #2 - How to get the wheels off!

Decided to have a look round the Noble with the intention of giving it a clean and came across my first hurdle.

Here are the wheels:



Now I expected these to be a prise off affair, but without breaking them. I thought better of it after they had flexed quite a way and I was afraid to continue. The red nut, was it for show or functional? so I attempted to undo the nut, thinking it may retain the Silver plastic disc, but with no joy.

So anyone know how they come off, without breaking. Not had these type before or am I overlooking the obvious.

Thank you, most helpful. Unfortunately the Noble didn't come with that plastic spanner.

They sometimes pop up on ebay, and here's one :

but check it's the right size, as there are two and when I bought one off ebay it was too big.

Also, be careful when you undo them. I pushed like hell on mine and lurched forward, smacking my beak on the front wheel arch and it bloody hurt, I can tell you.

Last time I had my tyres changed the fitter couldn't undo two of the red nuts with the plastic spanner as they had been done up too tight, so he used a large pair of stilsons with rag wrapped around the jaw.

Hehe, ta, however, I'm not sure if they are classed as 12 point or 6 point nuts. as there are small flats machined across each point

Nope, nothing in my arsenal of tools, goes that large! - Hafrauds, it is then!

Result! Needed new rubber so had them done local, and they even threw in the correct spanner gratis.

I got all mine off with a G clamp lol.

Did try that, but bottled it when it flew off the first time!!
