I just came back from the local Brit car specialty shop with my clutch asking them to get me a full replacement kit and they said it's non-standard for an RV8 and they have no idea what it is, so they can't order it.

Does anyone know what it's from? Part numbers? Who sells the whole kit? ie: pressure plate, disk and bearing?

Don't know about yours, but the 350i (with the LT77 gearbox) uses one from an SD1 which is a 9 1/2" job (Range Rovers use a 10 1/2" flywheel btw so won't fit)

You can get an uprated clutch kit from Rimmer Bros for an SD1 and I'v seen a few uprated kits on ebay.

Thanks. I've got 9.5" too. I'll order one from RB if they ever get my darned engine/tranny mounts sent. I've been waiting two weeks, the bill's been paid, nothing's arrived.

I found quite a reasonable-priced clutch on eBay and fitted it to the 400SX, it's survived that output and probably 6k miles so far, so they should be good for yours too. I posted details here but whether the search will turn it up or not is another matter. I'll have a look.

Sounds about right, life moves quite slowly in that part of the country wink

I had to wait for over a week for a pissy little hose for the inlet manifold on mine to be delivered!

You can buy a McLeod heavy duty clutch - I think the McLeod is american? IIRC it was referred to as a heavy duty street clutch. You may have to have the flywheel redrilled though as I think its a 10.5" job?

Rumour had it a while ago that the clutch fitted to most of the big Wedges was original equipment for the LDV vans (effectively the Sherpa!)... of course the Yanks and Cannucks couldn't conceive of a van so piddlingly small... and if they could it would have an auto box anyway wink

On a 390 I'd be careful.

My 400SE had had an after-market clutch fitted which evidently wasn't up to the job, and was slipping after a maybe 3 thousand miles.

RTracing replaced it with what Richard told me was the OE correct clutch...Borg and Beck. Much heavier duty.

He'll have the details if you email him (and could send the part).

I've got a sherpa van V8 clutch ready to go in my V8S - its Borg and Beck, though its packaged as a Unipart.
It looks the same as any other V8 2WD clutch to me, and identical to the one thats come out, apart from the fact that the friction disc is a beige colour not dark.

I figured I'd try the local landrover dealership...they built the thing... do you think they could get it in for me? Nope! frown All this f***** shipping costs is going to put me into the poor house.

I've got one of these.. you also need to shorten the clutch release bearing mount by 10mm and strengthen the release arm.

Strengthen the release arm? I guess you need a big left leg too then? Mine's heavy enough!

Just some small plates 3mm thick to stop it bending at crutial places.. a tip from Steve Heath.

My clutch is actually very light as the clamping force is over wider area.
