having now moved to London what are some decent rides to do on the road bike?

I'm going to cycle from the City (I live nr Shoreditch) to Richmond today but any other rides I should think about doing? Say maybe 20-30 miles each way tops?

if you go up the river lee along the lee valley park thats not a bad trip along the canal. broxbourne is about 18 miles from your place

this sounds just the job - i fancy taking a spin out to Hertford but wouldn't mind avoiding the A10 if at all poss - where do i pick up the lee valley then?

Other options for weekend rides: get the train out of town - easy to do and regular (I know this is Pistonheads!... but its a good way to get your bike out of the city quickly). Short trip from Liverpool St to Chingford - puts you at Epping Forest - headout via the Forest roads to Essex. Also simple to get out to Kent and Surrey from London Bridge.

you can get the lee valley from limehouse basin and just follow the canal past the temple watermill and oylmpic site then its sign posted

I don't know much about it, but I believe there's a good cycle network roughly based on the path of the New River (several hundred year old man made waterway). Might be worth a google?
