I have just agreed to sell a car to a private buyer he wishes to pay me via Paypal using a credit card. Once the funds are in my Paypal account and I have withdrawn them is there any way that they can be reclaimed via the buyer, Paypal or his credit card company, in other words will they be cleared funds? If it makes any difference the car was not sold via Ebay..
As per other posts it can be reclaimed at any time & for any reason............ a good example is that I sold a 5 series sport bumper, advert clearly stated that it was cracked and had been repaired (photos on auction of repair!), the buyer charged back through paypal as the bumper was damaged..... net result was £22 down in postage and fees as well as a lot of hassle. Did paypal even look at the claim / auction, did they buggery. A quick google will show up several people who have sold cars, taken payment via paypal and been ripped off via chargebacks
Dont forget that you'll also be paying their fees out of your side of the deal

Also the sale can go 100% smoothly. Buyer is happy and doesn't reclaim his/her moneys... but paypal can still hold your money for months on end to stop money laundering . Had a friend have £1800 from a computer sale held for 8months!
I only ever buy with paypal, just not worth the hassle to for sellers.

Don't do it.
I got f
ked on a phone sale once. 250 quid down. Buyer won auction, paid via paypal within minutes. The day after that I sent the phone via special delivery. On the third day, the funds were taken out of my paypal account (making it negative as I had withdrawn money to my bank account) claiming fraud on the card that was used to pay.
I lost the money as there were other funds coming into paypal - cancelling my account was not an option.
I sent paypal all the proof of posting and all that .... Nothing. They are completely useless and unhelpful as can be.
JUST DON'T DO IT.
