Holiday home general & mortgage advice question

Been looking for 18 months to by a place in the south-west as a holiday home (not for renting) - finally found some where me and the better half agree on.

Anyone been down this path and have any advice on what to look out for?

Was originally planning to fund this by drawing down on my existing mortgage but the rates on offer are far from competitive - as we have 25% deposit any recommendations for mortgage brokers for second home mortgages?
