Well after the few problems I've been having......
www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=8&h=&t=70686
I decided to take the battery off the car and charge it up 'off the car' it was as flat as a flat thing and after leaving it connected to the accumate for 3 days it was back to life on Sunday, so I popped it back in the car and hooked it all back together again, and the car fires back into life, but the alternator charging light is still out
So I decide to wing it anyway, drop the battery booster in the car 'just in case' and head off for some petrol, fill it up, go to start it, expecting it to be trouble, but everything fires up, even the alternator light comes back to life So off I go following a lovely sounding E-Type and for the rest of the afternoon the car starts, stops, pops and bangs just like it's s'posed to
So after a nice afternoon I head back home and pop it back in the garage, hook up the accumate and expect it to start clicking, and throwing it's toys out it's pram, but no, it just sits there excepting it's charge and on checking it this morning I've got a green light showing full charge, so when I want it next time it should spring into life
Maybe it was the threats of replacement with a Porsche/BMW maybe it just wanted to be back out scaring following traffic with it's firework display, but hopefully now it'll be alright for a week or two
I expect to be posting a new thread on Wednesday with the heading 'thats it it's for sale, anyone want to swap for an M3'

My Trev is in imminent danger of being dumped in favour of an SL500 or Porsche if he doesn't start behaving I haven't quite got the hang of taming the beast into submission as yet!!! He's sulking in the garage at the moment and the beemer is smurking on the drive

Porsche maybe.... but SL500 do you want to look like one of the merry widdows?

teutonic(sp) crate which happens to have a roof that comes off (talking 90-02model)got about as much charm and character as a house brick!

Well I quite like them as well don't think one would fit in my shoebox garage though
I guess I'm just getting old, but early 90's 911's are looking nice, and even late 968CS's can be had for early Chimaera money

But you just know it's going to start every morning

But maybe in 20 years time, but then it would be an old banger
Agree that it's no sports car but sometimes I don't want to go everywhere at Mach 5
Errrrr what am I on about I go Mach 4 in the Clio
But theres just something so 'right' about a red Porsche

I can tell raceboy has taste so in addition to chims (Grrrr!!!!) he won't mind me chatting about bmw's, mercs or porsches or...err...aston martins

I was thinking more in terms of the very latest SL500 not the older style (but they're nice too ). I've also seen the same merc with an SL55 badge on the back. I'm not sure what the difference is though.

However, the merc doesn't have attitude like the chim. It's rather fun when something isn't wholly predictable
