Our local village magazine has asked me to write an article about our Vixen S3 and yesterday the editor asked me just how many are left. After knowing that there are aboutr 18 on the online register, some of which are in pieces, I'd estimate there are probably about 40-50 on the road worldwide.

So was I right, or does anybody have a more accurate figure or better knowledge?

Cheers. smile

Hi,

I am looking to buy a S1 Vixen to restore and was wondering what kind of value they are. The one I am looking at is complete, but needs a complete overhaul (body repair, engine rebuild, new interior etc..). Really love the car, just don't want to get ripped off.

Thanks

Phil

it will also need a brand new chassis.

basket case £2-4K
Runner with long MOT £5k

Top restored car £12-15k

A snotter will cost £13k to restore properly assuming you do it yourself.

The original question, as to numbers, is always going to be difficult to guesstimate. All I can say is that there is definitely one S3 in Nottingham, not on the register, waiting to be driven!

So I'm guessing by reading this that there is no way the DVLA will grace us such info. I was wondering about the number of 1600m's.

The DVLA have farmed out commercial enquiries to agencies whose customers tend to be companies, using general information about vehicles to target particular markets, rather than individuals.

Last year I did this for the RS2 which forms such a small group that one agency - actually the only one to respond - said the data would be £200 but I could have the overall figures for free.

You get at the agencies through Directgov. Look at http://www.transportoffice.gov.uk/crt/otherbusines...
and scroll down to Sale of Anonymised Data for a list of the four agencies. Try emailing all of them and see if you have any luck.

You may feel you need a cover story. My enquiry was couched in the form of, "I'm writing an article," which wasn't entirely true... rolleyes

My S3 was fully restored back in 2006 and I have kept her in tip top condition ever since. "SVM 909K".
Originally painted black - now in Lotus Yellow.
