I already have COD4 but have never played it on XBL and obviously I'm not that experienced.

I want to try some of these group matches but dont know where to start, should I stick with COD4 and hope some of you invite me in to be slaughtered or grab BF and do the same there!

COD4, purely for the fact that the squad system currently doesn't work on BF1943 and to start a private match you must have 15 players

COD4, prepare to be slaughtered for a while, but if you play some one on one with an experienced PH player, they might be kind enough to give you some tips.

That and the controls and the guns are st on bf. The maps and spawning is much nicer, but thats about it. Oh and the ability to blow st up.

But i hate the controls and the fact guns are next to useless at killing people.

Just my opinion ofcourse wink

I've never seen a better example of a time to use the phrase "A bad workman always blames his tools"

I have no problem killing people with BF's guns, thats because I'm ace though.

I have no idea what you mean about the controls though? The button layout is more intuitive than CoD and can be changed anyway. Also the stick sensitivity is spot on.

To the OP i'd start with BF 1943, it is a re-working of probably the greatest online shooter of all time, once you get playing it is sublime and skill/experience are better rewarded. Also the games carries a more varied arry of play with tank/planes/mounted guns/boats/repair/assists etc.

Or go out and get a cheap copy of BF2 or BF: Bad Company which are both awesome online.

I didn't rate BF:bad company but loved BF2 on the 360. I just didn't think online part was as frantic with BF:BC as it was with BF2.

Am going to dust off BF2 and see if there is anyone still playing it.

Oh yes, tried it last night in a kill all lobby, may as well have stood in the middle of an open field with a big arrow pointing at me and a target strapped to my head!

I was wondering why the hell everytime I lined up on someone I got shot by someone else, thinking it was kill all there would be no team-work, WRONG the gits were hunting in pairs, became blatant when I'm top of a building, had already sniped two and two guys appeared side by side and bombarded my position with heavy fire and a grenade launcher!

CoD4 does get easier the more you play as you get the power ups and weapons. Reading the comments I think everyone gets destroyed at first.

Thats were you're going wrong. Sniping doesn't get you anywhere in CoD4, which is a good thing. There are way too many skilless camping fkers online who just sit there and wait for someone to walk across their crosshairs. Run and gun is the way to go. I don't mean spraying the gun all over the place but working your way round the maps activly looking for the opposition rather than waiting for them to come to you.

Tried that to start with lasted about 10 seconds, took me 3 rounds just to get a single kill frown got up a few levels so thought I'd do some sniper work, got a better kill rate but not as satisfying, how far do I have to get before I get the 'red dot' sighted machine gun, I seemed quite good with that when I picked one up last night.

Think I need to try some team stuff so someone can watch my back!

to get the red dot attachment you will have to get (i think) 25 kills with the particular gun.

Don't give up - as you level up you'll get more useful perks and as you get more kills you'll unlock better sights and silencers for the guns, which'll make it easier to kill - I find some of the iron sights really hard to get to grips with.

When you get to level 55 you can either stay there or start prestige mode, where you drop back to level 1 but collect shiny new medals - the challenge then comes with seeing how good you are without your fancy guns and how quickly you can level up again.

Oh, and please stay away from the Juggernaut perk........tongue out

Use the Headquarters mode.

1) If your side wins its an easy 250 points.
2) When Shipment comes along (tiny map!!) you'll get lots of kills and get the red dot.
3) You're on a team, so half the guys won't try and kill you! hehe

Try MP5 or M4 guns at first, add red dot asap and enjoy.

Thats the trouble with COD imo...

they are both good games. either will get you started but COD is full of geeks... whereas 1943 is a new game and your on a level playing field...
