Sold my beloved Monaro (hope your enjoying it Mark), and am now the proud owner of a new VXR8.

6.2 LS3
Wortec remap and exhaust
Sports suspension upgrade

Drives really well with the suspension upgrade (fixed not coilover), minor problem with the suspension but resolved next day and I am a very happy chappy !! Can't wait until she's run in.

Yip, sounds great. Not as loud as the Monaro (which had the headers done) but Wortec always do a nice soundtrack.

Ringram, interested in your view, do you reckon it would make 370rwhp? I was quoted 30bhp+ for the mods which would make it 455bhp ish. It included performance air filter, but otherwise just remap and exhaust. Would that make 370rwhp?

Run-in....? It was made using computers, not cast iron and hand finishing

I am old fashioned like that, I always try to keep it below 150 leptons until it has at least 50 miles on the clock.

Flywheel is meaningless mate, as you can only check/measure at the rear thats the best numbers to use.
But thats based on Oz numbers on dyno dynamics chassis dyno's and US results etc. If you dyno'd over 360 then you are doing ok with it.

Yes realise that, but my Monaro dyno'd at 321 ish, when 'in theory' the mods should have given 440bhp flywheel.

Endless variables of course....

I think you have answered your own question, theory and practice are different smile
Flywheel numbers are guesses. Rear wheel are actually measured. Maybe they relate, maybe they dont. Therefore best just to go with rear wheel.

Everyone has a good idea of what different mods actually result in at the rear from a good few visits to SRR Dyno.

IMO people should be buying mods based on measurable numbers that can be proven and not something immeasurable open to "endless variables".. (ie) Forget flywheel numbers.

I agree completely, but...
The problem is that every manufacturer quotes fbhp, so if you talk about rwhp, you always seem at a disadvantage if anyone asks "How much?"

Take a look at ALL Oz and US forums and you will see everyone talks about gains in terms of rear wheel. If you make the engine you can quote the engine power. But if you mod the car, then you can only measure the car.

Anyway, ask for whatever number you want. The only relevant one will be the rear wheel one. The other number will immeasurable by you and might as well be randomly generated, because you wont be able to validate it, nor will anyone else. What number do you think is more relevant?

If you want to know your weight do you stand on scales, or do you get someone to estimate it based on how tall you are?
