Hello there,

I'm very sorry I'm sure this has been done to death but a thorough search of the forums has turned up a complete blank so I'm going to ask again...

I live in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. My Elise S2 needs help fairly urgently... and a service. My nearest dealer is Stratton and they're ok but they're expensive and a bit... well... off hand. I've tried Castle TVR in Stansted, they were excellent the first time but the second time they sent me home with no oil cap. Didn't open the boot, didn't notice it until the next day. Nothing had leaked out but I wasn't too impressed.

I am not so worried about it being an actual approved dealer so much as a proper mechanic rather than a fitter - which is why I'm slightly leery about using Vindis in St Ives.

If I'm desperate, I guess I could go spend a few days with my folks in Sussex and use Fibreglass Services in Arundel or Frosts, about 3 minutes down the road in Hove (although they look expensive)... but there's an ominous knocking coming from the engine the kind of knocking which... well, frankly I'm not sure I'd make it that far (250 odd miles).

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

Scary....I also live near Bury St Edmunds and would very much recommend you use Hanger 111 in Ipswich. They have an A1 reputation and are known across the country having been in articles and advertising in magazines such as EVO & Performance Cars & are always at large Lotus events such as the Lotus Snetterton festival recently. They are a family run company. Ask for Mariane or Greg and they will be more than happy to help. website: www.hangar111.com

There is also Paul at PSR Automotive
He's based in Bishop's Stortford and getting good reviews from SELOC at the moment.

Thanks folks! They both sound excellent and have good write ups everywhere.

I think Bishop's Stortford is probably a little bit far, I love the fact Hangar 111 have their price list on line but I think GST are going to squeak it this time on the grounds of being a 15 minute drive from my house...

Many many thanks!

Cheers

GST were very impressive. Took the car in, explained about the worrying noises and at once they were able to tell me a simple and more to the point inexpensive thing it might be, greased and checked my creaky joints - still creaky, they said they might be, but I know they're safe... Definitely a straightforward, honest chap who aims to provide an excellent standard of care. Will use them again for deffo.

Thanks for the recommendation!

Cheers
