Hello all. I'm going to buy a budget open face helmet for an up coming trip to the nurburgring and general trackday use. I want a lid that meets the necessary standards for uk trackdays. Thing is I can't find clear info on what these standards are. I've heard of acu gold stickers (bikes), ece's etc. But can't make sense of it all. I know helmets arenot often checked at trackdays but still want a lid that is of a decent standard.

Any help or recomendations would be much appreciated

What you want is a helmet that meets BS6658-85 Type A. Thats a blue British Standard sticker. In the real world as it's open face the fireproof part of the next standard up would be pointless.

How about this.

Although really I'd suggest full face and going to a place with lots of helemts and try on as many as you need until you get a comfortable one.

Suggest you get a helmet that conforms to either

a) Snell SA2005

or

b) BS6658 Type A/FR

As some tracks / track day organisers are insisting on MSA approved helmets
