Thinking about the powerplant for their Bantam altered led to a new sponsorship deal for the UK's Bennett Racing altered team, says Luke Bennett:

The original plan was a simple carbed Big Block Chevy. But a sensible decision was made to opt for a supercharged methanol-burning Chevy. It makes the most sense: by the time I added up the cost of a decent carb and a good inlet manifold we thought we might as well go blown. It also makes sense because we have a few spares knocking about and the knowledge to do it.

The next step was to contact Kenny at Superpower Unlimited (also a sponsor of Eurodragster.com News - Ed) to enquire about some sponsorship for the altered. I had already struck up a good working relationship with him while building his new web site www.superpowerunlimited.co.uk so I thought if you don't ask you don't get. So as of now Kenny has very kindly come up with a deal which suits us both: I get the use of a freshly-rebuilt 8/71 blower, inlet manifold and all the associated parts needed for a blower install, Kenny gets his company name on our race cars and on the Bennett Racing web site.

Super Power Unlimited are no strangers to the drag racing scene, having been involved since with the Nostalgia Fuel Altered Association since its conception. They offer a truly American flavour for big inch engines and have built up a reputation for value and reliability within a diverse range of motor sports ranging from fast road cars to nitro-burning dragsters. All of their main parts are USA manufactured and assembly and building are carried out at their workshops to your specification. Their specialities include Big Block Chevy 454 ci to 706 ci and Ford 460 ci to 690 ci for street, strip or marine applications and also nitrous oxide injection, supercharging and turbocharging. For road car and club racing enthusiasts they have created the new Boss 302 ci engine with a displacement range up to 360 ci or 5.9 litres using the new Boss Motorsport 302 block as the foundation. All are custom built to suit many types of road or racing applications. They are also partners with most major supercharger specialists from the USA and can supply all their products with a full back-up service for all makes of Roots type Blowers from 4-71 street blowers up to Top Fuel 14-71 units.

The aim is for the Bantam to be out early next year and it will most likely run in the Supercharged Outlaws and Super Pro ET, and at any other meetings at which we are not racing the Relentless Topolino in the NFAA.
