Hi all,

Thought id join the massive forum community here as it looks epic, so this is my first post on this site so thought i should introduce myself (im Tom, im 20 and from South Manchester, Sale if anyone knows it) and more importantly my car...

Iv owned it since September 2008 and have loved every minute of driving it, and am soo very glad that i was able to get it and insure it at only 20.

I havent really done a huge amount of modifications to it, only things iv done are;

Fit crystal clear front indicators/sidelights and fit clear side repeaters
Get the wheels powdercoated so they now look brand new (as the paint was falling off when i bought the car)
Fit a full induction kit to give it an amazing sound when you get a bit 'spirited', and also to get rid of the insane amount of plastic that comes with the original set up (theres resonator boxes everywhere! Very restrictive...)
New front number plate as the old one was cracked and had brown streaks around the old rusty screws (really really let the front down..!)

As for future work/mods i dont really have any plans, there isnt really a whole lot else i want to do as it now looks how i want it to (as though its only 1 year old - not 10!). So any money i spend on it now will be in fixing it whenever it goes wrong (which hopefully being a Toyota and therefore bulletproof wont be very often) and sorting out the not-so-pretty engine.

So thats that... Hope you like! smile

Black Mr2's? Good shout biggrin

Go on sir, you know you want to...

Fine choice for a first car and plenty scope to evolve it as you learn how to drive it properly.

oooooo... the old V6 conversion... i have to say i am tempted... the idea at the moment is to drive this, and get used to RWD, then once insurance gets acceptable on something more powerful go for a Turbo or a V6 (or if im lucky and can find one, perhaps a BEAMS..)

I like the idea of a V6 though... 2 reasons; i like it as its a bit different, i like the idea and feel of high torque

But the V6 vs Turbo is a MASSIVE debate.... could be here for a looooooong time if were gna get into that one!

and BriC is right - my first car was a mk5 Fiesta smile had that since i was 17.. smile

Lovely looking car mate, exactly the same as mine when I had it - par from mine was red.

Be careful though, I bought mine when I was 19 and on one lovely day it ended backwards in a ditch...without me putting a foot out of line!

Cracking car, really miss my old rev 1. Great job fixing it up too - it's the little things like replacing the number plate, that really make it look so well cared for.

Be careful with it - I had mine when I was 19, never had anything bad happen at all apart from one very wet night I turned right at the traffic lights at a crossroads, put my foot down a smidgen too far and ended up facing the wrong way... oops... fortunately nobody coming so no harm done. Still, treat it with respect and it will look after you - fun times to be had but be careful down those country lanes as it only takes a tiny bit of horse muck or wet road to ruin your week.

Enjoy it smile

Go for the Turbo wink Will make more torque than the V6 could even dream of.

I don't know what 'da Law' is on these kind of things 'round these parts, but I'm guessing you've probably registered with the mr2oc by now given your knowledge of the engine possibilities!

Either way they are great cars - it took me a while to get used to driving RWD but once you've got used to it, there is no going back. Just remember to do everything smoothly and you'll be fine - I've had a few hairy moments but thats part of the fun with RWD - just remember not to fully lock the steering wheel when you start to slide and you'll be well away.

Well.. thank you all for the very nice positive comments!

Cableguy - dont worry... wont be going much further with the modifications now.. Even if I wanted to (which i dont really) I couldnt because I couldnt afford it anyway... my placement finishes in 2 months then im back to uni, and it was my placement that paid for everything!

OwenK - Very true, the small details are very important! theyre also the cheapest which is why i did them! you get a big improvement for a small price.. smile

and dont worry... ill be careful! havent had any 'moments' so far so its going well... dont really push it at all in the wet either, and just replaced my almost illegal rear tyres, so should be OK in the wet as well. smile

and Gazado - I did indeed join MR2OC, great site with an immense amount of knowledge on it, iv tried to digest as much of it as possible over the last year iv been on it.. its saved me a lot of money as well, especially with repairing a waterleak I had when I bought it...

Join IMOC too, I have found many members there have better knowledge than the OC.

Sweet car.

Whatever you do, be careful about signing up at TwoBrutal.com. Those guys will have all kinds of crazy ideas for "sensible" upgrades. I know because I'm in the middle of spending amll fortune hehe

Seriously though TB is great. Also mr2oc.com (the US based one) is a great site, as is IMOC.

Have fun and keep it sticky-side down.

Oh my gosh this was my car!!!!!!. Came across the picture randomly but this was my car, It was very much loved and I would love to know if you still have it. Unfortunately I was forced to sell it when I split from a relationship in 2008 and cried my eyes out as I left it so I think you must have bought it after me. Please let me know how its doing?
