I'm getting my Ro converted next week. The place I'm taking it to (Capital Autogas) has a technician who apparently used to convert a great many Holdens over in Oz and they've not had any problems with them. I think the Vxr8 would be fine.

I was going to get my x5 4.6, and xk8 converted by Gas Power UK in Exeter as they were recommended to me. I liked what these guys had to say and i was warned by people that there are a lot of rogues fitting LPG systems. Go with somebody who have done installs on similar cars and check how big a tank they can install, bear in mind if your getting 15mpg around town on petrol you will only get 11mpg on LPG. If they cant get a big enough tank in youll be filling it up every five minutes.
If your not keeping the car for three years or more, no cost saving , spend the money on mods and go faster.

Have been looking in to this myself.

There was a HSV VE GTS LPG conversion at the Melbourne Motor Show with liquid injection. The system is made in Italy and apparently improves performance. Liquid injection must have a major cooling effect on intake temps and should give better results with FI than NA.

Haven't heard any more about HSV's own LS3 LPG project though.
article from Drive

Anyone know if it's going into production?

I was looking at adding an extra fuel tank to give the range I need, but if this is viable, it could be a suitable option. Apparently twice the cost of vapour injection though.

Have a look at nitrous instead, it's cheaper to fit and more effective.

I saw a gear knob advertised the other day with a concealed red button just right for administering a shot of the laughing gas into the engine under WOT.

Imagine how cool that would be, James bond and Mad Max all at once

I looked at LPG and was told that cars with plastic inlet manifolds are not a good bet.

I guess the finished result will be down to the quality of the parts used and then how good the fitter is?

Where are you thinking of putting the filler? Not inside the boot as I have seen as this is non-compliant I think.

Have you checked that your insurance company are OK with it - this counts as another modification.

You do need a compliance certificate with the install.

Lastly, you won’t aloud in the channel tunnel (no great loss)

rofl Bottles are lighter too hehe

Liquid propane (108RON and cheaper than race fuel) with nitrous at 12.5:1 compression, sounds like an interesting recipe... smokin

NOx emissions might be a bit high though, and stock internals probably wouldn't last long, assuming the drive train could cope.

Yes! Nitrous works well with diesel (stronger block helps). Could add a shot of propane too!

Single point injection can suffer with blow back, melting/exploding plastic manifolds.

Sequential multi point vapour injection can work with plastic manifolds, but personally I still would not recommend it. Cam overlap must be minimal.

Sequential multi point liquid injection doesn't displace the intake air, so blow back (virtually) eliminated and is the safest bet with plastic manifolds. Some systems use the petrol injectors for the LPG injection which will stop the injectors gumming up, this will cause ECU problems on the VE models though.

Just heard back from Australian LPG Warehouse, who did the GTS at the MMS, they are happy to pass on the ECU connection details, they've done LS2 and LS3 VE's. thumbup

I'm looking at an LPG conversion - I've posted stuff elsewhere on here. Just got some credit card bills in £500 on one 90% fuel, £200 on another plus my wife's ha, ha, ha!!!
