Hi,

Went to get the car out of the garage this morning and was unable to get it into gear. It seemed fine yesterday so would I be looking at a lack of fluid in one of the cylinders (slave or master)or maybe the fingers gone? Just waiting for the AA to turn up and would like to tell them what to check first.

Cheers

If all was fine yesterday, i would look at the fluid reservoir above your pedals to check the level. When the clutch fails, it tends to go gradually, pedal starts getting a bit heavier, until 1st and reverse are impossible to get, unless your an animal!

Hi Duntus,

I called the men in yellow and when he arrived we went to check the car out. I did manage to get the car out the garage. It would not go into 5th but crunched into reverse. It then became easier to access the other gears so we came to the decision to drive the car the 20ish miles to RG. RG have told me that they will be checking the car out tomorrow(Friday). It might just be a lack of fluid (though I did check)or even the fingers?. Looking through the paperwork I got with the car upon purchase it has had two slave cylinders but no record of any other parts related to the clutch. Will post what they find when I know.

Did you notice any difficulty in getting gears in the past couple of weeks? Say the occasional crunch but just put it down to not pressing the clutch pedal fully? That's what happened to mine then one day 1st and 5th went and by the time i got home all had gone. Turned out the fingers on the clutch had gone.

Fingers crossed for you but doesn't sound good for your wallet!
