Well, I've gone and done it!
Discussion
Hello there! It's taken me 3 years of research and a couple of test drives to pluck up the courage, but I've finally gone and bought my first TVR! It's a '98 Cerbera 4.2. Picked it up in Scotland a couple of weeks ago, following a thorough inspection and test drive. Drove it home to Essex over 2 days via Cheshire - awesome drive! Haven't taken it over 5000rpm yet, but no doubt my confidence will improve...
Touch wood I've managed to solve my first issue as well - rough running at part load and an obviously rich RH bank. Having plugged in with the laptop, the adaptives at idle were +37.5 (thought the max was +35!) on RH and -25 on LH. A couple of hours last night with a multimeter revealed that the lambda sensors were plugged in the wrong way round (must have happened when the engine was removed for some chassis work with the last owner). Anyway, come 11pm I had a few scratches on my forearm, and hopefully a rectification. It was a bit late to start her up so I've got my fingers crossed for when I get home from work tonight...
This forum has already been an invaluable source of information for the purchase and for this issue.
There are a handful of other problems, of course. I won't bore you with them right now, but prepare to be questioned soon!
Meanwhile, hopefully I'll be taking it into work tomorrow to show the lads!
