Just trying to find out which is decent. Following from 'The Moose' Car Hire 3000 post, I'm looking to hire a large / premiem car but have no idea what most of them are actually like...Obviously I know the Chrysler 300c but thats it. There are numerous Buick's, Pontiac's and Dodge, which is the one to go for or are they all pretty similar?

Thanks,
Rich

Im just back from Orlando, we hired our car from Alamo @ Sanford airport. The 'large' cars on offer there were mainly Dodge Chargers...pretty much like a vectra. think i seen some ford things in the parking lot, like a focus sedan idea.

Just upgrade to an Escalade if you're struggling for space, petrol is cheap as f*ck out there and every 2nd car on the road is a 4x4!

We don't even bother with the cars in Orlando, we always go for a 4x4. The bigger the better, it's all part of the holiday. The Chevy Suburban and Ford Expedition are stupidly large, but so easy to drive (and park) over there. If you go east to Daytona, you can drive them right onto the beach.

Just a few tips if you're traveling to Orlando International Airport (we've got timeshare there so we go most years):

1) There is a bonkers baggage collection process, whereby you have to collect your baggage twice!
2) The 2nd baggage collection area is immediately above the car hire area. As such, my missus / kids wait for the baggage while I go down and sort the car hire out. Both can take a while.
3) I've noticed over the years that the Dollar car hire firm tends to have much longer queues than other companies, as such we tend to use one of the others.

This was Ok

Only 3.5ltrs but did us for 2 weeks. See Dollar if you want one.

We booked a Standard SUV and got this for about £200 extra for the 2 weeks

Just to add, it had full leather and Sat Nav. Done about 250 miles to a tank, which two weeks ago cost about $40

Finally booked an intermediate car...some pontiac apparently, done through CarHire3000 although it's a Dollar car, will be taking a spare bit of plastic if the offer of a decent upgrade and price is available.

Not particlary bothered about a 'big' car as there is only the 2 of us going and I only really like driving hatches. But i'm easily sueade if something takes my fancy!

Cheers,

R
