Building a space rocket from scratch - how hard can it be?
Discussion
I mean, all you need is a long alloy tube, lots of firework gunpowder (none of that liquid-fuel complexity), a lightweight chair with a seatbelt, a simple gyroscope-based guidance system, a diving air-tank and regulator (for pilot breathing purposes), a nose-cone (probably off an old jet), and a large parachute for when you want to return. How hard can it be? Even the radio can be a standard VHF as it will operate in line of sight from the ground.

It's not exactly rocket science is it , oh wait a minute , IT IS
I had a free afternoon last Saturday, managed a blast into space in a converted dustbin, fuelled by tennents extra.
The effects of space travel were quite dramatic, in fact I can remember very little about it, must have blacked out on re-entry, I came to in my space craft at about 3am, tennents extra fuel cans were everywhere.
To be honest space travel isn't all its cracked up to be, gives you a cracking sore head the next day and dehydrates you.

Sorry, but bthis is the wrong forum for rockets.
we have forum for rockets now, wheres that? ;-)If you want to talk about hypergolic fuels, select "Boats, Planes & Trains"
If you want to talk about abrupt negative feedback to an employee in a corporate environment, select "Business"
