Has anyone got any advice or experience?

I've done a bit of googling and found the usual options of plug-in boxes or full RR'd maps ranging from around £100 to £500.

In my old 530d I had a cheap DIY plug in box and found the results to be excellent.

Where's the smart money on VAG CR TDi tuning?

Plug in boxes are poor at best.

Go for a proper remap (generic one) from the likes of Custom Code etc.

Wont cost that much and will be much better.

Cheers GD,
What's up with the 'boxes? I was honestly impressed with the one I had on the 5er; more power, better mpg.
Can't see any reference to CR engines on the CC site?

Just from what I've read...they're a bit of an 'unknown'.

A proper map off a reputable company would be best.

I see your midlands, call Midland VW and speak to Jody. They're a Custom Code dealer and will be able to sort you out. Great company and great prices too smile. They're just off the M6 toll at Norton Canes.

They're very good. Worth bearing in mind as they're a V.A.G indy so will do all sorts of servicing/work etc smile

I've had a tuning box on my PD150 golf for about 5 years now. No probs with it, and quite a noticeable increase in power. Easy to remove and install. Cost about 400 quid, and slides down the side of the battery compartment. I'd recommend
