SL 55 AMG squeak when pulling away! Possible fix?

It was mentioned on another thread but i didnt want to hijack!
For anyone with the 55 AMG engine, it would appear there is a global phenomenon known as the "squeak" when pulling away, which i find VERY annoying! I have done some research and come up with a couple of suggestions / fixes.
MB main dealer would not admit "officially" that this problem is common but actually alluded to "known fix"! hummm.. anyway.. it is the supercharger clutch engaging as you increase the demand from the engine (pulling away).
So MB dealer said, change the pulleys out and the new kit is modded (another non admission of guilt!) but does cost about £1k
Although for those tempted with the pulley change and remap, this could be another reason to modify!

Just wondered if anyone else has this issue, how widespread is it? does it annoy everyone else too?

I've been investigating this one myself and found quite a few differences of opinion on it.
It is believed that the best solution is to get the Supercharger clutch replaced.
Changing the pulley's as "part of an upgrade" I don't think will be the solution as the correct way to upgrade the 55 is to change the Crank pulley and not the supercharger pulley.
The "solution" you have posted a link to is I presume the graphite spray trick, not really a solution but more of a temporary fix.....sooner or later it's going to need fixing properly.
I've been and test drove a number of 55's in the past couple of weeks and two of them both had this squeak, most noticeably when hitting the accelerator from very low speeds.

I have the same squeak/chirrup on my SL55. I had a similar noise on my DB9 and my V8V which they said was the pulleys and Drive belt (had both corrected on Warranty) but Astons don’t have superchargers!! I am going to speak with my mechanic later today and print off your link with the fix and see what he says and if he can solve it or has any other thoughts/solutions, He looks after a number of SL55's and 65's so may know more. I will get back to you.

I need to investigate it a bit more, but if it starts to make a noise when originally it didn't then it means that mechanically something has changed, whether it be belt slip or a part of the clutch not engaging efficiently it has to be something tht over time becomes worse. [i] This motor-specific noise is state-of-the-art. At best, replacement of these parts leads to a temporary solution of the problem and customer dissatisfaction will increase.

Thanks for a good informative response and it backs up what asman was saying. Looks like the graphite spray is the short term prevention of choice then, I suppose if it ever became really bad then changing the s/c clutch is not too much of a major job.

Now that was the simplest fix for the most annoying noise..
5 mins start to finish. Pulled away, chirp gone! Very happy now, although i am sure i can here a rattle behind the seat :-)
Anyone want a squirt of me graphite spray in the Leatherhead/Weybridge area, you are welcome. A4 paper and a couple of squirts, run it back and forth like a feeler gauge and done.
